Accessibility

Our commitment

We want everyone in the trade to be able to read HVAC Xchanger and use this site, including people with disabilities. We follow Ontario's accessibility law (the AODA), and we aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at Level AA.

Reading the magazine online

The Ontario Edition and the Western Canada Edition can both be read here page by page, the same as in print.

  • Each page has a text version with its printed words and the advertisers on it, for screen readers.
  • "Search this edition" finds a word on any page of the edition you're reading.
  • The arrow keys turn pages, and you can zoom in on any page.

Using the site

You can get around the site with a keyboard. A "Skip to content" link at the top of each page takes you past the menu, and buttons and pictures are labelled for screen readers.

Known limitations

  • Ads are pictures of the printed pages, so their small print and colours are as the advertiser designed them for paper. The words in each ad are in that page's text version, and an ad's panel lists the advertiser's phone, email, website and promotions as text.
  • A few pages don't have a text version yet. If you need one, ask us and we'll send it.
  • Training videos play from YouTube, so their captions depend on whoever made the video.

If you need a page of the magazine, or anything on this site, in another format, such as plain text or large print, or you need us to communicate with you a different way, let us know. We'll work out with you what suits you and get it to you as soon as we can, at no cost.
